Mirabilius Mundus – Lecce 2011
Onorato is certainly a storyteller of fantastic stories, sometimes born of his daily life, sometimes daughters of humanity. All the works on show are made on colored cardboard sheets cut out with a cutter. In this way the artist manages to build his stories and to hang them, with lightness, to a thread, both literally and physically. Mirabilis Mundus is a title that echoes in our minds as an ambiguous and ambivalent message, poised between real and surreal. Ode to joy to externalize the beauty of life (attributable to the recent paternity of the artist) and yet a contemporary warning to our daily life, to highlight, with witty irony, the weaknesses and absurdities of today’s man. In the world / silhouette of Claudio Onorato, the criticism of the contemporary geopolitical structure, the economy and its fetishes are evident. Every barrier knows how to transform itself into a game of paper, every conditioning, every element, while retaining its symbolic strength shows its fragility.
