Restyling of the light tree
This work was realised when one of the most ancient trees in the town of Carugate died during the renovation of the town hall. Therefore the town and the designer turned it into a sculpture or rather a work of design. The only value that was added was light: the symbol of continuity and life. The restoration was carried out with Kintsugi technique. This is a Japanese practice in which liquid gold is used to repair ceramic objects: the metal is used to weld together the fragments. The idea is that from imperfection and injury a new and perfect shape can rise. During the entire Expo Milano 2015 period, the lights have been adjusted on colours such as yellow and green in order to stress themes such as nourishment and energy for life.
